Which Way is Home?
![]()
Home is where the music is for this Detroit band. They are one of the most motivated and hardworking bands that I’ve met in a long time. They are truly dedicated to their music, their town, and their local music scene. They would like to see local artists support each other and revive what could become a remarkable locale. Which as all of you know, are two things that are VERY close to iMP’s heart!
They are a four piece band consisting of Eric (lead vocals), Ryan (bass, background vocals), Lucas (drums), and Mike (guitar). They like to experiment with their sound and try new things. They have come a long way and strive to improve with every move they make. Formed back in 2004 and surviving many line-up changes, Eric explains that the bands’ name is, “actually an question of where your heart is. Where do you call your home (the place where you feel most safe)? I’ve grown up in a very broken family with my mother having several failed marriages that caused me a lot of emotional trouble growing up.” Although the name was given to the band by one of the original members that has since left, the band has grown to love it and stuck with it.
The guys from WWIH are very grateful for all of their opportunities over the past couple of years. They are devoted to and appreciate their fans and everyone that helps them to ‘live the dream’. Nate Dorough from Fusion Shows has been very helpful through out this bands’ career. He has believed in them from the beginning and was pivotal in helping them get their start. They are currently unsigned, but that’s only a technicality. There is quite a bit of interest around this band.
Even though at first glance this band may be confused with all th
ose ‘been there done that’ bands- they are nothing of the sort. The music is on the pop side, but that only serves to make it more memorable with great hooks and libretto. They are a good ol’ indie band that deserves to be taken seriously. WWIH’s songs are filled with life experience and are about a variety of topics that anyone can relate to. One of their most notable songs, “Danny Wait”, is about what Eric went though during his parents divorce.
WWIH loves to share their latest with you. To hear new material from their yet to be released album you will have to check out a show. Cause well lets face it… Can you really wait until the end of the year? We are all waiting anxiously.
Fun Facts:

They love to play in intimate settings. Some of their favorite places include: The Pike Room in Pontiac, The Magic Bag in Ferndale.

Head and Toe
This band is like no other. They consists of Jeremy on vocals, whose voice is so sweet it might just give you a cavity, Brett on violin, and Hillary on cello and vocals. The songs cover a variety of subjects, and make references to Jeremy’s home state: Michigan. I personally very much enjoy the opportunity to hear violin and cello. There are not many bands that can compare to the talent displayed by these locals. They kicked off their tour May 5th in Lansing. Check for dates and places near you. If you are from (or around) Lansing, make sure to check them out June 27th for their CD release.

New Addition to the Deals & Steals
We just added another great resource for Indie Musicians in Michigan…KLM Audio.
KLM Audio is located in Lansing, Michigan. Constructed during the spring of 1999, the studio has been serving the central Michigan music community ever since.
Originally from Buchanan, Michigan, owner/engineer Keith Kurtiss McIntosh has been making music for 30 years now. Through that time, he has worked with such national acts as Kansas, The Joe Perry Project, Grand Funk Railroad, Rare Earth, Bob Weir (Grateful Dead), UFO, Earth Wind and Fire, and Lillian Axe. After more than a decade of road work, he relocated to Lansing in 1986. Keith’s keyboard work has been featured in such local acts as FULL HOUSE, BOY’S NITE OUT, GRINNIN’ BARRETT, and VIVA!, a Santana tribute band. He is currently a member of the variety band KNOT LIMITED and has also recently joined local blues based rockers BAKED MONKEY. Starting with his days in FULL HOUSE, Keith also spent seventeen years in music retail.
While working for the local lighting company ON STAGE VISUALS, Keith developed an interest in recording and music production. He began to study, putting himself through a college level acoustics course. He ‘hit the road’, doing mobile recording sessions at client’s homes. He has constantly refined and upgraded his gear while continuing to gather additional knowledge. Finally in 1999, after he and wife Anne purchased their first home, Keith set about the task of building a more serious recording facility.
There has been constant change, experimentation, and revision to the studio throughout it’s near eight year exsistence. Most recently, a vocal booth has been added, along with a complete ground up remodeling of the studio’s control room. A new mix console and hard disc multitrack system have been installed. Higher end microphones have been brought into the collection. Changes to the acoustic treatments in the live room, along with the construction of a ‘floating’ drum riser, have also been been completed. The installation of solid birch sound doors has finalized the remodeling project.
Check them out on the Deals & Steals page for the link.
